不小心傳錯訊息、手滑打破東西，想解釋「我真的不是故意的」，第一反應是說 “It was my accident” 嗎？這句聽在母語者耳裡，感覺像你在認領一場車禍。Accidentally 中文是「不小心地、意外地」，但 accident、accidental、accidentally 三個字詞性不同，用法差很多。搞清楚這些，才不會越解釋越尷尬。
Accident：名詞，意外是怎麼發生的
Accident 是名詞，而且是可數名詞。一件意外是 an accident，發生很多件就是 accidents。
它涵蓋輕到重的各種狀況，從打翻飲料、摔手機，到車禍、工安意外都算。語感上，accident 本身帶有「不幸、不希望發生」的意味，但嚴重程度完全看語境。

“Accidents happen.” 是安慰別人「意外難免，不要太自責」時非常道地的說法，比只說 “It’s okay” 更有溫度。
在職場場合，工安意外的英文是 workplace accident 或 industrial accident，通常出現在安全報告和公司 email 裡。
Accidental：形容詞，「非故意的」
Accidental 是 accident 的形容詞版本，accidental 中文意思是「意外的、非故意的、偶然造成的」。它可以放在名詞前面，或接在 be 動詞後面。
- an accidental discovery（意外發現）
- an accidental deletion（誤刪）
- The damage was accidental.（損壞是意外造成的）
語感上，accidental 比較正式、客觀，跟朋友聊天很少用，但寫報告、事故記錄、和保險公司溝通的時候就很實用。

Accidentally 中文意思和副詞用法
這才是大家最常需要、也最常說錯的部分。
Accidentally 中文是「不小心地、意外地」，是副詞，通常加在動詞前面，用來說明「那個動作是不小心做的」。這才是表達「我不小心的」最自然的方式，而不是在句尾加 “It was my accident”。
結構：主詞 + accidentally + 動詞 + 其他
不小心英文最核心的說法就是 accidentally，幾乎所有「我不小心……」的句子都可以用這個結構。

補充一個小細節：很多人把 accidentally 拼成 accidently（少了一個 a）。正確拼法是 acc-i-dent-ally，注意是 -ally 結尾。
By Accident：另一種「不小心」說法
By accident 也是「不小心地、偶然地」的意思，通常放在句尾。跟 accidentally 意思很接近，很多時候可以互換。
結構：主詞 + 動詞 + by accident
語感上，by accident 更強調「這件事是偶然發生的、不在計畫之內」，有時候也帶有「意外碰上」的感覺。想到「偶然相遇」英文怎麼說，除了 run into 和 bump into，用 “by accident” 也很自然。

Accident vs Incident：職場英文一定要分清楚
這兩個字在職場英文和 TOEIC 都是常考詞彙，意思接近但語感有明顯差別，用錯可能造成誤會。
Accident：通常暗示有「受傷、財損或不幸後果」，語氣比較重，讓人直覺聯想到有人受傷。
Incident：比較中性，泛指「某件事情發生了」，可以是衝突、小插曲、異常狀況，不一定有人受傷。
如果你跟同事說 “There was an accident,” 他的第一反應可能是問有沒有人受傷。但如果你說 “There was an incident,” 他會覺得發生了某件事，但不一定很嚴重。
這個差別在職場場合特別重要，例如寫事故報告、填安全記錄的時候。

- My bad：最輕鬆口語，適合朋友之間的小失誤，不帶什麼心理負擔
- Oops：感嘆詞，當下發現出錯時脫口而出，就像中文的「哎呀」
- That was my fault：比 my bad 正式一些，真誠承認是自己的問題
這幾個說法和更完整的道歉英文說法可以搭配使用，視嚴重程度選擇。
如果是別人不小心犯錯，你想讓對方放心，說 “No worries” 或 “It happens” 都很自然。No worries 的各種用法也值得看一下，回應別人道歉時比單說 “It’s okay” 更道地。
