你是不是每次想說「這很難」,腦中就只浮現 “It’s difficult” 或 “It’s hard”?雖然這兩個說法沒錯,但如果每次都用同樣的字,英文聽起來就會很無聊、很制式!其實英文有超多種表達「很難」的方式,有些強調困難程度、有些強調複雜度、有些則是超口語化的慣用語。讓我們一次學會各種「這很難」的英文說法吧!
基本說法:Hard vs Difficult
在學其他說法之前,先搞懂最基本的 hard 和 difficult 有什麼差別:
Hard
- 比較口語、日常
- 可以當形容詞或副詞
- 用法更廣泛(hard work, work hard)
Difficult
- 比較正式
- 只能當形容詞
- 聽起來比較「嚴肅」

B: It was really hard. I don’t think I passed.

強調「非常困難」
當你想強調某件事真的很有挑戰性、很艱難時,可以用這些字:
Tough – 強調「堅韌」和「艱難」,比 hard 更強烈,常用於需要意志力或韌性的情況。

Arduous – 非常正式的字,強調「艱辛」、「費力」,常用於描述需要大量體力或精力的事。
