被老闆臨時叫去「代表公司」在活動上致詞，或者幫老闆打電話給客戶，英文第一句話要怎麼說？on behalf of 中文意思是「代表某人、以某人的名義」，是職場英文和多益裡超常見的片語。感覺好像不難，但實際上很多人用的時候還是會搞錯。這篇從電話、email 到多益考題，帶你把這個片語用對。
Behalf 是什麼字，on behalf of 又是什麼意思
behalf 這個字單獨出現的機會很少，如果你查字典，behalf 中文可以翻成「名義、利益、代表」，通常跟介系詞 on 搭配，形成 on behalf of，意思就是「代表某人、為了某人的利益、以某人的名義」。
句子結構很簡單：on behalf of + 人 / 機構 / 組織

職場最常見的三種場合
這個片語在職場裡最常出現在三種情境：代打電話、代寫 email，還有正式場合的致詞。
代打電話
有時候老闆出差或開會，叫你幫他打電話，開口第一句就要說清楚你是代誰打來的。對方通常會先問你是哪位，這時候 on behalf of 就是你需要的那句話。

代寫 Email
幫主管寫 email 或者以公司名義發信，on behalf of 幾乎一定會出現在開頭。如果你在學寫職場信件，像是代同事寫請假 email 的情境，有時也需要說明「我代表某人」。

正式致詞、頒獎典禮
這種場合是 on behalf of 最正式的用法，通常出現在活動開場白或代表某人領獎的時候。句子結構幾乎都是以 on behalf of 開頭，後面接機構或人名，再說你想表達什麼。

On behalf of 和 on someone’s behalf 有差嗎
這兩種說法看起來不一樣，但意思完全相同，只是結構不同。兩種說法裡的 behalf 中文意思一樣，都是「名義、代表」，只是位置調換了。
- on behalf of + 人/機構 → 把「人」放在 of 後面
- on + 人’s behalf → 把「人」的所有格放在前面
兩種都正確，都很常用，可以自由互換，沒有哪一種比較對。

多益 TOEIC 怎麼考這個
on behalf of 在多益裡主要出現在兩個地方：Part 4 的電話留言，和 Part 7 的商業信件或備忘錄。
Part 4 — 電話留言
多益 Part 4 很常出現一段話說「我代表某人打來，想確認某件事」，開頭就是這個片語。聽到要馬上抓到「誰代表誰」這個訊息，因為後面的問題常常問「誰打了這通電話」或「這通電話的目的是什麼」。

Part 7 — 商業信件

三個很多人說錯的地方
錯誤一：多加 “the”
很多人會說 “on the behalf of”，但標準用法是 “on behalf of”，中間沒有 “the”。這是最常見的錯誤，寫 email 和多益考試都要特別注意。

錯誤二：忘記主要動詞
On behalf of 是介系詞片語，不能用來取代句子的主要動詞，前面一定要有描述動作的動詞。少了動詞，整個句子就不完整。

錯誤三：in behalf of 和 on behalf of 分不清
“in behalf of” 幾乎已經過時，現代英文一律用 “on behalf of”，不管是口語還是書面，不管是美式還是英式英文，考試也是。
