Staff 中文是「員工」，Employee 中文也是「員工」，看起來好像沒差？但這兩個字完全不能隨便互換，用錯了外國同事會直接皺眉頭。更慘的是，很多人英文用了好幾年，還不知道 “staffs” 根本不是一個字。這篇把所有坑一次填起來。
先記住最重要的概念：
- Employee = 個別的員工（可數名詞，重點在「個人」）
- Staff = 全體員工、員工團隊（集合名詞，重點在「整體」）
Employee：個別員工（可數）
Employee 指的是「被雇用的人」，是可數名詞，所以：
- 一個員工：one employee
- 兩個員工：two employees
- 很多員工：many employees
使用情境：
- 談論具體的員工人數
- 指稱某個特定員工
- 強調個人身份

B: We have about 200 employees.

重點：Employee 前面要用 a/an，複數要加 s
Staff：員工團隊（集合名詞，通常不可數）
Staff 是集合名詞，指的是「全體員工」或「員工團隊」，重點在整體而不是個人。這是最多人搞錯的地方！在美式英文中，staff 通常是不可數名詞（單數） 在英式英文中，staff 可以是複數（視為團體中的個人）
美式用法（最常見）：

什麼時候用 Staff Members 或 Staff Member？
如果你想用 staff 但又要強調「個人」或「數量」，可以用 staff member（員工成員）。這是可數的！

雖然兩個都是「員工」，但使用場合和語感不同：
用 Employee 的情況：
談論具體人數

不太自然：We have 500 staff. （雖然文法上可以，但不如 employees 自然）
談論個人身份或資格
(15) As an employee, you’re entitled to benefits.
作為員工，你有權享有福利。
不太自然：As staff, you’re entitled to benefits.
用 Staff 的情況：
談論整個團隊的特質或表現
(16) Our staff is highly trained.
我們的員工團隊訓練有素。
(17) The staff provides excellent service.
員工團隊提供優質服務。
特定部門或專業團隊
- medical staff（醫療團隊）
- teaching staff（教學團隊）
- kitchen staff（廚房團隊）

錯誤 3：用錯動詞單複數（美式英文）
The staff are very helpful.（美式英文中較少見）

錯誤 4：想表達具體人數時用 staff
We have 100 staff.（聽起來怪）
正確: We have 100 employees.
正確: We have 100 staff members.
錯誤 5：Employee 忘記加冠詞或複數
不正確: I’m employee here.
正確: I’m an employee here.
Employee 和 staff 雖然都是「員工」，但一個強調個人、一個強調團體。最重要的是記住：staff 通常不加 s！這是最多台灣人踩的雷。下次寫英文郵件或開會時，想清楚你要強調「個人」還是「團隊」，就知道該用哪一個了。記住，不確定的時候就用 employees 或 staff members，保證不會錯！
