寫 email 或報告的時候，是不是常常看到 regardless 卻搞不清楚 regardless 中文到底怎麼翻？字典直接寫「不管」，但實際用起來語感差很多，跟長得很像的 regarding 也常常被搞混，跟 nevertheless、nonetheless 又要怎麼分？這篇幫你把差異講清楚。
Regardless 中文意思：不只「不管」這麼簡單
先講 regardless，這個字超好用，而且聽起來超有自信、超堅定的感覺。
Regardless 中文常常被直接翻成「不管」、「無論如何」、「不顧」，但這個翻法只對了一半。跟 but 比起來，regardless 給人的感覺更有力、更正式，而且帶有一種「我不管別的，就是要這樣」的堅定態度，這種語氣是單純的「不管」兩個字沒辦法完全傳達的。
Regardless 用法強調的是「不受影響」、「堅持立場」，不管前面發生什麼事、有什麼狀況，後面的結論都不會改變。這種語感比單純用 but 轉折更強烈。

Regardless of + 名詞或名詞片語，這個 regardless of 用法超常見，特別是在正式場合或 email 裡。
常見的搭配有 regardless of the cost（不計成本）、regardless of what happens（無論發生什麼）、regardless of the outcome（不管結果如何）、regardless of the weather（不管天氣如何）。基本上任何名詞後面都可以接，這也是 regardless of 用法最實用的地方。

Nevertheless：儘管如此、然而
接下來講 nevertheless，這個字比 but 正式太多了，用在寫作或正式 email 超適合。
Nevertheless 的意思是「儘管如此」、「然而」、「不過」，它比 but 更正式、更書面，通常用在你要承認前面的事實或困難，但後面還是有轉折或不同的結論。

位置上，nevertheless 通常放在句首，後面用逗號隔開，也可以放在句中或句尾，但句首最常見也最自然。

最後是 nonetheless，這個字跟 nevertheless 幾乎一樣，只是稍微更正式一點點。
Nonetheless 的意思完全等於 nevertheless，都是「儘管如此」、「然而」。老實說，nevertheless vs nonetheless 這兩個字大部分人根本分不出差別，可以互換使用。如果硬要說，nonetheless 可能稍微更正式一咪咪，但真的差異超小。
重點是，不管用 nevertheless 還是 nonetheless，都比 but 高級太多了，用在正式寫作或 email 裡，立刻讓你看起來很專業。

講到 regardless，一定要順便提一下 irregardless，這個字很多外國人自己都會不小心講出來，但嚴格來說它不是標準英文。
Irregardless 其實是 regardless 跟 irrespective 兩個字混在一起造出來的，字典會收錄是因為太多人用，但正式寫作或 email 裡千萬不要用，用 regardless 就夠了，語意完全一樣，還比較正確。這也是為什麼搞懂 regardless of 用法比硬記 irregardless 這種變體重要多了。
