同事在 Slack 上傳來一句 “Just a heads up, the client might call you this afternoon.”,看到 heads up 這兩個字,心裡忍不住開始想:這是要我注意什麼?
要特別注意的是,heads up 在這裡是名詞,常寫成 a heads-up,所以前面會搭配 give、get、thanks for 這些字。它不能直接拿來當動詞用,像 “I’ll heads up you.” I’ll give you a heads up.

Just a heads up 怎麼用
Just a heads up
(5)
A: Just a heads up, I’m running about ten minutes late.

Give someone a heads up 的句型
除了放在開頭,heads up 用法最常見的還有 give someone a heads up,意思是「主動先通知某人」。反過來,如果是你收到通知,就可以說 get a heads up。
想說「關於某件事的通知」,後面接 about 或 on 就好,例如 a heads up about the meeting。 Can you give me a heads up when…? 或 Can you give me a heads up if…?,這句在約人、等消息的時候超實用。
(10)
A: Can you give me a heads up when you’re about to leave?
B: Sure, I’ll text you.

B: Sorry, I didn’t know it was such a fancy place either.
Just a heads up that… 或 I wanted to give you a heads up that…,會比老是用同一套職場 email 開頭自然很多。
(15)
A: Did you see Lisa’s email this morning?

B: Give them a heads up now. They’ll appreciate the extra time.

Thanks for the heads up,朋友、同事、客戶都可以用,完全不會出錯。
I appreciate the heads up。

Heads up、FYI、Reminder

(25)
Heads up, the boss wants to see everyone at 3.
(26)
FYI, the new coffee machine is in the kitchen now.

B: I did. I also gave them a heads up that the place has a two-hour limit.
Heads up 要不要加 a?
當名詞用的時候要加,像 give me a heads up、thanks for the heads up。
(29)
Thanks for the heads up. I’ll be ready.
(30)
Heads up, the parking lot is full.
Heads up 和 heads-up 哪個才對?
(31)
Quick heads-up on tomorrow’s schedule: we’ll start at 9:30 instead of 9.
I wanted to let you know that…
(32)
I wanted to let you know that our office will be closed next Monday.
Thanks for the heads up 就很自然。
