出國背包旅行、住青旅或租公寓，第一個語言關卡往往不是機場、不是餐廳，而是洗衣機。洗衣機英文到底要說 “washing machine” 還是 “washer”？柔軟精和洗衣精英文分別是什麼？遇到飯店洗衣服務怎麼開口？這篇文章把日常洗衣、自助洗衣到飯店洗衣服務的英文全部整理起來，多益 TOEIC 常考場景也一起收錄。
洗衣服英文，先從這幾個字學起
「洗衣服」的英文不是 “wash clothes”。雖然別人大概聽得懂，但母語者最常說的是 “do laundry” 或 “do the laundry”。Laundry 這個字本身就有「待洗衣物」和「洗衣這件事」兩個意思，非常好用，像是 “I have a pile of laundry”（我有一堆待洗衣物）或 “I need to do my laundry”，都很日常。
洗衣機英文是 “washing machine”，或者更口語的 “washer”，兩個都通，在美式英文裡 washer 更日常，不過你說 washing machine 也完全正確。放待洗衣物的籃子叫做 “hamper”，這個詞很多人不知道，但在對話和多益考試裡都蠻常出現的。

洗衣精和柔軟精英文
洗衣精英文是 “laundry detergent”，也可以直接說 “detergent”。液態洗衣精叫 “liquid detergent”，粉狀的叫 “powder detergent”。
柔軟精英文是 “fabric softener”，記住 fabric（布料）加 softener（軟化劑）就對了。很多人搞不清楚柔軟精英文怎麼說，其實這兩個字拆開來都不難記。另外還有一種叫 “dryer sheet”（烘衣紙），直接丟進烘衣機一起用，效果類似柔軟精，讓衣服烘完更柔軟有香味，在北美超市隨處可見，也是多益閱讀偶爾會出現的詞彙。

烘衣機和晾衣服英文
烘衣機英文是 “dryer”，使用烘衣機叫 “use the dryer”，把衣服放進去就說 “put clothes in the dryer”。
不用烘衣機、讓衣服自然乾，有兩種說法：
- Hang clothes to dry / hang clothes outside：晾衣服、掛在外面晾
- Air dry：自然風乾，讓空氣把衣服吹乾
兩種說法都很常用。”Air dry” 也會出現在衣物標籤上，代表「請自然晾乾，不要烘乾」，在下面的衣物標籤段落還會再提到。

乾洗和手洗英文
有些衣物不能丟進洗衣機，要乾洗或手洗。乾洗的英文是 “dry clean”，送去乾洗就說 “take it to the dry cleaner”，dry cleaner 是乾洗店的意思。手洗直接說 “hand wash”。
這兩個詞彙在衣物標籤上也很常見，後面會再提到。出差的人如果帶了正式衣物，認識乾洗相關英文也很實用。

自助洗衣和投幣式洗衣機英文
住宿舍或短租沒有自己的洗衣機，就要去自助洗衣店。自助洗衣店英文叫 “laundromat”，美式英文最普遍用這個字，也有人說 “coin laundry” 或 “self-service laundry”。
投幣式洗衣機英文是 “coin-operated washing machine”，也可以直接說 “coin-operated washer”。Coin 是硬幣，operate 是操作，合起來就是靠硬幣操作的機器。需要換零錢，可以找零錢機（”change machine”），或者直接去前台問。

飯店洗衣服務英文
出差或旅遊住飯店，很多人不想自己洗衣服，飯店通常提供洗衣服務（”laundry service”）。流程很簡單：把衣服放進房間的洗衣袋（”laundry bag”），填好洗衣清單（”laundry form”），掛在門把上或打電話給房務，服務人員就會來收。
送去洗叫 “drop off”，之後取件叫 “pick up”。有些飯店提供當天取件（”same-day service”），但通常要在指定時間前送出。

很多人把衣服送進洗衣機前根本不看標籤，結果毛衣縮水、裙子變形。衣物標籤上的洗衣指示其實不難懂，幾個關鍵詞記起來就夠用了。
幾個最常見的標籤用語：
- Machine wash：可以用洗衣機洗
- Hand wash only：只能手洗
- Dry clean only：只能乾洗
- Tumble dry low：低溫烘乾
- Lay flat to dry：平放晾乾，不要掛起來，衣服會因為重力拉扯而變形
- Air dry：自然晾乾
- Do not bleach：不可漂白

Part 3 和 Part 4（對話和獨白）：飯店廣播或旅客詢問洗衣服務的場景頻繁出現，像是 laundry service hours（洗衣服務時間）、same-day service（當天服務）、drop off（送出）、pick up（取件）這類資訊都需要快速抓到。
